BBC'S RACE HORROR!

On 26 October 2008, The News of the World published the story, BBC'S RACE HORROR.

This is it:

"The BBC is embroiled in a furious race row over talented BLACK celebs being booted off Strictly Come Dancing while WHITE stars with ‘two left feet’ stay in… Yesterday angry stars demanded a probe into what many see as racist voting patterns on the series dubbed Middle England’s favourite.

The uproar follows Rising Damp star Don Warrington and M People singer Heather Small coming bottom in the public vote last Sunday… Don got 23 points from the judges and Heather 21, while TV journalist John Sergeant only scraped 16, and swimmer Mark Foster and GMTV front man Andrew Castle managed just 17.

Last night a Beeb insider admitted chiefs were mortified by the public vote, saying: ‘THERE WERE A LOT OF PEOPLE AT THE BBC WHO WATCHED IN HORROR ON SUNDAY NIGHT, LIKE VIEWERS DID. HAVING TWO BLACK PEOPLE IN THE BOTTOM TWO WHO HADN’T EVEN PERFORMED BADLY WAS A VERY BAD LOOK FOR US’…

After Don was booted out by the judges, the official Strictly website was besieged with accusations of racism…
Black Olympic sprinting ace John Regis was also horrified, telling us: ‘I was shocked… STRICTLY IS A MIDDLE-CLASS KIND OF SHOW AND THAT POSSIBLY COULD BE THE AREA WHERE RACISM STILL FESTERS’…

The previous year BEEB BOSSES EVEN CHANGED THE RULES OF THE COMPETITION AFTER HOTLY TIPPED FINALIST DJ SPOONY WAS VOTED OFF after just three weeks. They introduced the dance-off to save good dancers like him who had scored poorly with the public…

Last night SPOONY SAID IT WAS TIME THE SUBJECT OF RACIST VOTING ON SHOWS LIKE STRICTLY WAS GIVEN A WIDER AIRING…

Heather Small, who was competing again last night, declined to comment. But a close pal said… ‘THERE MAY BE INSTITUTIONAL RACISM AT WORK IN THE PUBLIC VOTE’…

THE EQUALITY AND HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION SAID IT WAS AN ‘INTERESTING’ ISSUE AND PLEDGED TO INVESTIGATE ANY COMPLAINTS IT RECEIVED ABOUT STRICTLY."
Ah, right. As per usual, it's all the fault of we nasty, white, middle England types. Why are we not surprised?

The Daily Mail carried a copy of the above story the following day. Both newspapers had plenty of incensed 'Strictly' fans contributing in their Have Your Say sections but, interestingly, most of the comment was rather more like my own than the BBC or the 'Equality and Human Rights Commission' might have wanted.

Here's an edition of what I had to say in both newspapers:

"If the voting was racist how come the first people to be voted off in this series were white? Did white people complain when this happened? How come Alesha Dixon won last year and she’s mixed-race? How come Mark Ramprakash won the year before that? How come Colin Jackson was in the final a few years back?

The race card is always played if the PC Crowd (the Black-is-best and White-is-worst people) don‘t get their own way.

My favourite, John Sergeant, was, probably, the worst dancer on show on Saturday. Will this stop me voting for him? Of course not! John is a laugh riot! He's also pretty ovbiously a great bloke, he‘s a trier, he's funny and witty, with personality and charm to burn, and I'd rather invite him to a party than any of the others. In other words, I LIKE HIM!

I do not like John Regis. However, I didn’t know I didn’t like him until he came out with the usual suspect 'is it cos I'ze black' routine. I don’t like the 'Beeb insiders' either. Those who were 'mortified by the public vote' and 'watched in horror on Sunday night' seem to be suggesting, not only that the British people are 'racist' but that we shouldn’t be voting for people we want to win simply because of the colour of their skin! Is there anything more 'racist' than that, I wonder? When it comes to REAL 'racism', the Brit-bashing, cultural Marxists at the BBC take some beating!

What's up, you 'Beeb Insiders'? Did you forget to fix things like you TV types usually do? The British people like who they like. And I'll tell you this, they WON'T LIKE a bunch of jumped-up PC lefties implying that they're somehow deviant just because they voted for the contestant they liked the best!"
Here are a few more comments that appeared in The News of the World:

"Typical, two black people on the bottom and the old race card gets played. I think we all know if it was two whites there nothing would be said at all."
"What a load of TOSH. The white leftwing PC brigade making something out of nothing. You should be like me, a hard working, white, English, hetrosexual male and then you'd know what it feels like to be discriminated against."
"PC again! Lets just ban the programme, will that make people happy? Or have no white people on the programme."
"Since when did any public voter have to justify his/her vote? What utter nonsense. How can someone seriously play the race card in a programme like this. When two white people are in the bottom two, is that racist?"
"What a load of left wing idealism, if people want to vote white pink or green then thats their choice. Dear BBC if youre running scared of this then next time tell the viewers they can only phone in with votes if they're not for whites."
"Funnily enough my partner sat there last week and said 'oh dear two black people in the bottom two, I wonder if the race card will be played'? Low and behold it does. This just shows at what a state this country is in. NOTHING can be said about anyone who is not white otherwise it is racism.

It's funny how when white people are in the bottom and get voted off there is no uproar about it being racist but oh no, god forbid that black people get voted off. This kind of stupidity is what will fuel racism further 'cos people are so fed up with pussy footing around to not upset anyone who has different coloured skin."
"Here we go again! 'Its cause I'm black' rubbish. All they want is an excuse to play the race card."
"Oh for crying out loud! You know, the black community get a bad name due to a small minority of people ALWAYS playing the 'race card'. It is beyond a joke now. Why can't the bottom two be black stars? If that's how the public are voting, what's the problem? Last night, two white stars were in the dance-off - are the whites going to claim racism too? I mean it's absolutely absurd."
"The BBC put ethnics before White British people when it comes to jobs within the corporation! Bout time the BBC were shown as racists towards their own people!"
"I had a feeling this was going to happen when I saw who was in the dance off last week. Its nothing to do with the colour of someone's skin, its down to how popular they are with the public."
"Racism takes on many forms but is only highlighted when it affects the black community."
"The BBC are so PC-obsessed it is now becoming a joke! Have they forgotten that Alesha won last year?! How offensive to accuse the viewers of being racist when we voted Alesha to win! There are so many elements to why celebrities get voted - viewers loved their dance, the music, their personalities but it isn't anything to do with their skin colour. What a shame the BBC have to stoop to such a low level."
"If a black person won a rapping contest would any white contestants claim racism? If a black person won a blues singing contest would the same apply? If an Indian actor got the lead in a Bollywood movie would there be uproar? I THINK NOT!"
"Phil Daniels got voted off in week one followed by Gillian Taylforth the week after. If the programme were 'racist' then both Heather and Don would have been voted off then. This is just another example of the BBC's obsession with foistering their pathetic left wing PC agenda on us."
"Good old Beeb. Mortified that people have voiced their opinion."
"It has the nasty whiff of a democracy about it. Can't have that now can we in this great land?"
"This racist card being pulled is getting rather tiresome."
"A black girl won it last year so stop trying to make trouble out of a none issue."
"What a load of nonsense, look at how well black people do in X Factor and the majority of people phoning in on that are white. People want to see personality, remember this is a public vote, the people watching aren't dance professionals, who know the ins and outs of dance moves but ordinary people who want to see a bit of light entertainment."
"Have people not stopped to consider the fact that it wasn't because they were black, but just not as popular in the public eye? Mark is good looking, John is admittedly getting the sympathy vote and GMTV is watched by thousands of viewers who are voting for Andrew! Heather and Don were better dancers last week but they just aren't as well known to the public. It is purely a popularity show!"
"YAWN the race card being raised again."
"I do not think it is a racist issue, just some of the dancers have a bigger fan base irrespective of whether they are good dancers or not."
"I doubt the people who voted Alesha Dixon last year's winner have suddenly turned racist overnight."
"Is it racist that 99% of blacks in America are voting for Obama?"
There were very few comments that supported the Regis/BBC point of view.

Which is encouraging.
