A shabbos goy is a non-Jew who performs certain activities which Jewish religious law (halakha) prohibits a Jew from doing on the Sabbath. That's the official definition but, generally speaking, the term usually refers to a non-Jew whom the Jewish elite look upon with fondness for his contribution to their overall situation.
