We're all united in defence of the Jews?

On 10 September 2014, Ted Cruz, a Texas Senator, gave the keynote speech at the IDC Summit for Middle East Christians in Washington, D.C.

He began thus:

“Tonight, we are all united in defense of Christians. Tonight, we are all united in defence of Jews. Tonight, we are all united in defence of people of good faith, who are standing together against those who would persecute and murder those who dare disagree with their religious teachings...

Religious bigotry is a cancer with many manifestations. ISIS, al-Qaida, Hezbollah, Hamas, state sponsors like Syria and Iran, (Cruz is as on-message a Zionist as it's possible to be) are all engaged in a vicious genocidal campaign to destroy religious minorities in the Middle East.

Sometimes we are told not to loop these groups together, that we have to understand their so called nuances and differences. But we shouldn’t try to parse different manifestations of evil that are on a murderous rampage through the region. Hate is hate, and murder is murder. Our purpose here tonight is to highlight a terrible injustice, a humanitarian crisis."

What the arch Israel-sniffer said then proved a wagtail too far for some of the gathering.

"Christians have no greater ally than Israel!"

At which point the crowd began to boo.

'Those who hate Israel hate America,' Ted protested, as the boos and calls for him to leave the stage got louder.

“Those who hate Jews hate Christians! ...If you hate the Jewish people, you are not reflecting the teachings of Christ!"

Which is bull. Jesus often spoke out aggressively against Jewish depredation. For example:

"You belong to your father the devil and you willingly carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks in character, because he is a liar and the father of lies." ("John: Chapter 8, verse 44)

"The scribes and the Pharisees... do not follow their example. For they preach but they do not practice. They tie up heavy burdens and lay them on people’s shoulders, but they will not lift a finger to move them. All their works are performed to be seen...

They love places of honour at banquets, seats of honour in synagogues, greetings in marketplaces, and the salutation ‘Rabbi'...

Woe to you, blind guides, who say, ‘If one swears by the temple, it means nothing, but if one swears by the gold of the temple, one is obligated. Blind fools, which is greater, the gold, or the temple that made the gold sacred?...

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites... Blind guides, who strain out the gnat and swallow the camel!

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You cleanse the outside of cup and dish, but inside they are full of plunder and self-indulgence... You are like whitewashed tombs, which appear beautiful on the outside, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and every kind of filth.

Even so, on the outside you appear righteous, but inside you are filled with hypocrisy and evildoing... Thus you bear witness against yourselves that you are the children of those who murdered the prophets...

You serpents, you brood of vipers, how can you flee from the judgement of Gehenna?" (Matthew: Chapter 23, verses 3-33)

'Not reflecting the teachings of Christ,' eh, Ted? You're full of sh*t, my son.

Cruz continued:

"And the very same people who persecute and murder Christians right now, who crucify Christians, who behead children, are the very same people who target Jews for their faith, for the same reason."

At this point his audience began to insist he leave the stage. He complied. He left with this parting shot:

“If you will not stand with Israel and the Jews. Then I will not stand with you!"

And the moral of the story is... the Jews and their bought spokesmen are losing it. The whole world is awake to their crassly self-serving propaganda now are many just aren't prepared to tolerate it any more.

And some of these are happy to let the bought-and-paid-for Senators know they're on to them in no uncertain terms.

Anyway, Cruz's audience weren't impressed. What follows may suggest just one of many reasons for the lack lustre reception.

Daniella Weiss is a former mayor of Kedumim, an Israeli settlement in the West Bank. 

She has been a notably unapologetic figure in the Gush Emunim settlement movement since the 1970s.

In the video below she can be seen saying this:

"We came to a land where there were other people living. But this land was promised to the Jewish nation by God. All the other people who live here will accept Jewish sovereignty in the promised land. This is the only way I see.

So those who accept it live nicely, those who do not accept it will encounter confrontations. My many talks with Ariel Sharon and my work with Ariel Sharon, there was a clear understanding, a very clear planning of spreading the Jewish communities in the way that THERE WILL BE NO OPTION FOR A PALESTINIAN STATE IN JUDAEA AND SAMARIA...

This land was promised to the Jews by God, all of it. It is true that in the course of history Arabs came to this area from all over but the promise of God is more important than the changes in history, political changes. That is why you have to put it deep, deep into your mind that YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY CHANCE WHATSOEVER IN ANY POINT OF HISTORY, NEITHER YOU NOR ANY OF YOUR OFFSPRINGS TO EVER HAVE HAVE AN INDEPENDENT STATE OF YOUR OWN HERE."

So here we see that there are powerful forces in Israel that, no matter what the rhetoric happens to be at any given time, will not brook any consideration of the two-state solution.

We all knew this, didn't we? Surely no one seriously believed the routine political deceit of the last two decades?

Only one thing will remove the Daniellas and the Ariels from their ill-gotten gains. Force. Force enough to make the monster fear for its life. Such force wouldn't necessarily have to be aggressive in nature. An explicit declaration of American anger resulting in the withdrawal of all technical, financial and moral support until crackpot chauvinists like Daniella Weiss are one hundred per cent marginalised would do it.

Oh yes, Israel alone, Israel without its bought-and-paid-for Senators, Congressmen and Presidents would be a very fearful little puppy indeed. Such fear  might see her negotiate in good faith for once.

Nothing else will work the oracle, that's for sure.
