Lyndon Johnson

On 7 January 1958, future President, Lyndon Johnson, who was Senate Majority Leader at the time, said this before the Democratic Caucus in the Senate:
"Control of space means control of the world. From space, the master of infinity would have the power to control the earths weather, to cause drought and floods, to change the tides and raise the levels of the sea, to divert the Gulf Stream and change the climates to frigid.

There is something more important than the ultimate weapon and that is the ultimate position. The position of total control over earth that lies somewhere in outer space."
Those who wish to control us have been at it for a very long time, ladies and gentlemen.

And the control they wished to exercise wasn't always benign.
